To list your ammunition inventory on AmmoBase, we require a product data feed in XML or JSON format. If you currently do not have a feed available, we offer web crawling services as an alternative solution. However, providing an XML feed is the most efficient method for both parties, ensuring faster processing and reduced server load.

Below you will find our preferred XML feed format specification. While we recommend matching this format exactly for optimal integration, we can accommodate alternative feed structures. Our technical team can work with various feed formats to ensure your products are properly listed on our platform.

Minimum Requirements

1. Feed Update Frequency: The feed must be real-time or updated at least every 5 minutes.

2. Stock Status: The feed should include only in-stock, ready-to-ship products, or clearly indicate whether the product is in-stock or not by a field like <qty_available>72</qty_available> or <availability>in stock</availability>.

3. Product Type Indicator: Each record in the feed must contain a product type indicator set to "ammunition". This field is required for proper categorization and display on our platform.

4. Single Feed Requirement: Our system processes one feed per retailer. All ammunition products must be included in a single data feed, regardless of category (handgun, rifle, rimfire, or shotgun).

5. UPC or MPN: When one exists, each product should include a UPC or MPN, either in the <upc> field or in the product title.

6. Public Availability: All items listed in the feed should be purchasable by the general public without qualification (i.e. no "membership" or any other purchase required).

7. Brand Field: The <brand> field should contain the brand name most prominently displayed on the product/box.

8. Required Fields: Each record must contain at minimum: product title, URL, price, caliber, number of rounds, brand name, and product type. Missing required fields will result in the product being excluded from our listings.

Important Notes

Feed Response Time: Once we send the request to your server to fetch your data feed, it must respond within 90 seconds, or our system will give up. We typically fetch all data feeds every 3 minutes.

Stock Status: The feed should include only in-stock/available products, or clearly indicate whether the product is in-stock or not.

Complete Inventory: Your feed must include all in-stock ammunition products your store sells. Partial inventory listings are not permitted. This ensures accurate search results and maintains the integrity of our marketplace.

Special Characters: For fields that have special characters such as "&", the whole field should be escaped using a CDATA section. For example: <![CDATA[40 S&W]]>

Caliber Specificity: The caliber in the <caliber> field must be specific and match our standardized caliber list. Ambiguous entries such as "22" are not acceptable, as they could refer to multiple calibers (.22LR, .22 WMR, .22 Short, etc.). Please use the exact caliber designation from our supported calibers list.

Quantity Variations: To maintain search result quality, limit quantity variations for identical products to a maximum of three options (e.g., lowest, middle, and highest quantity tiers). This prevents duplicate listings and ensures a better user experience.

Free Shipping: Products eligible for free shipping must include "FREE SHIPPING" in the product title. This information will be prominently displayed in our search results to help customers identify shipping benefits.

Additional Fees: Any fees beyond standard sales tax and shipping costs must be clearly disclosed in the product title. Examples include HAZMAT fees, handling charges, or other surcharges. Transparency in pricing is essential for customer trust.

Muzzleloading Items: Muzzleloading and black powder ammunition are not currently supported on our platform. Please exclude these items from your data feed.

Purchase Limits & Minimums

Purchase Limits: If your store policy restricts the number of boxes a customer can purchase per order (and the limit is less than 1,000 total rounds), include a <purchaselimit> field with the maximum number of boxes allowed. Omit this field or set it to 0 to indicate no purchase limit.

Minimum Purchase Requirements: For products with minimum purchase requirements, populate the <numrounds> and <price> fields with the total rounds and total price for the minimum purchase quantity. Alternatively, use the <minpurchase> field to specify the minimum number of boxes required.

Ammunition Condition & Case Material

Ammunition Condition: Factory new ammunition (manufactured within the past 5 years) does not require a condition field. For remanufactured, surplus, or seconds ammunition, include a <condition> field with the appropriate value: "remanufactured", "surplus", or "seconds".

Case Material: Our system defaults to brass casing unless otherwise specified. For non-brass cases, include a <casing> field with one of the following values: 'aluminum', 'steel', 'brass', 'alloy', or 'composite'. This information helps customers filter products by case material preference.
